Ascent Soccer Uganda is now the 'Keruwa Initiative'
The only constant is change, and that's no different at Ascent Soccer.
With Ascent being based in Lilongwe, Malawi and focusing its work regionally, combined with an experienced leadership team in Uganda eager to take ownership of a rejuvenated program in Gulu -- Ascent Soccer Uganda is now branching out on it's own as the 'Keruwa Initiative'.
Keruwa, which means 'collective strength', has been working with the Ascent international leadership team on a transition plan for its fresh start in Uganda.
"From that first day I set foot in northern Uganda back in 2006, it quickly became my extended community and a place my family called home for over five years," shared Ascent Soccer co-founder Adrian Bradbury. "This is a bittersweet moment, but a challenge I'm confident that my colleagues and friends in Gulu are up for. We wish them all of the best in this next chapter of opportunity and impact for the talent and promise of northern Uganda."
Founded as the Gulu United Football Academy, this youth program grew into Football for Good in 2015 and merged with Chigoli as Ascent Soccer in 2019, before now relaunching as the 'Keruwa Initiative'.
Today, Ascent Soccer, based in Malawi, delivers opportunity through four pillars: Soccer, Scholarship, People & the Planet.
It is a program that starts at the grassroots to inspire and nurture the talented girls and boys of Southeast Africa to be brave, to lead by example and to believe in their ability to transform themselves, their communities and the world.
