2023 ‘Impact Placement’ Opportunities

Ascent Soccer ‘Impact Placements’ are for experienced professionals in their field, who are eager to land an international opportunity to give back. Over a 12-week placement at Ascent Soccer, Southeast Africa’s most exciting and progressive football academy, scholarship and pathway program, you’ll have an opportunity to transform lives and yourself. There are three ‘areas of expertise’ for our 2023 placements.

1. ‘TEACHING’ PLACEMENT (JANUARY to April)

Our Academic/Teaching placements are a chance for a qualified (or qualifying) teacher to make a major impact in the classroom with the Ascent Soccer boys and girls. As we prepare our scholars for global academic opportunities, your role would focus on English tutoring, study skills and testing tools, and overall academic support. This 2023 impact placement is available from January to April.


2. ‘COACHING’ PLACEMENT (MAY TO JULY & SEPTEMBER TO DECEMBER)

Our Academy Coach placement is a unique opportunity for an experience UEFA B (or equivalent) football/soccer coach to lead and make an impact both on and off the field with some of best talent in Southeast Africa. This impact placement has two opportunity windows in 2023, May to July and September to December.


3. ‘ATHLETIC THERAPY / STRENGTH & CONDITIONING’ PLACEMENT (MAY TO JULY & SEPTEMBER TO DECEMBER)

Our Athletic Therapy / Strength & Conditioning placement is for an opportunity for an experienced and registered professional to take our work off the pitch to another level. In this role, you will work with Southeast Africa’s emerging football talent to push them athletically, with their wellness and overall habits to be a professional.


For all of our ‘Impact Placements’, here’s what’s provided by Ascent Soccer:

  • Private double room in the Ascent Soccer ‘Guest House’, with high-speed internet, on a beautiful farm located 12km outside of Lilongwe

  • Complete room & board (meals and drinking water while working and/or at the Guest House)

  • Access to a shared vehicle for Ascent Soccer programming

  • Advice and support for your time in Malawi, including in-country and regional travel options/support

To be provided by the ‘Impact Placement’ guest:

  • Flights (Return flight from your location to Lilongwe, Malawi)

  • Visa ($50 USD) & Immunizations (if required)

  • Personal spending money while in Malawi and/or traveling for leisure

  • Note: For your flight, incidentals, etc. — it’s also possible to fundraise for this portion of the ‘Impact Placement’, with Ascent support with online fundraising tools, guidance and advice.
