Ascent welcomes Adaptavist as first 'Scholarship' Pillar Partner
Ascent Soccer, a nonprofit dedicated to developing talent and promise in Southeast African youth, announces its new Pillar program and Adaptavist as its first 'Scholarship' Pillar partner. Adaptavist, a technology consultancy helping businesses improve productivity and embrace change, has signed a two-year agreement with Ascent to support the nonprofit’s mission of transforming the lives of young men and women in some of East Africa’s poorest countries by providing opportunities for comprehensive education, critical life skills and character development – combined with world-class soccer skill development.
As Ascent’s exclusive ‘Scholarship Pillar Partner’, Adaptavist has pledged a year two year financial commitment, along with mentoring and digital support, to help talented young people in Malawi access life-changing education through scholarships to North American schools and colleges. The collaboration between Ascent and Adaptavist will also focus on building academic programming around sustainability stewardship and compassionate problem-solving to ensure students are well-rounded and well-prepared future leaders.
The Pillar program is designed to focus resources around the four pillars Ascent Soccer is based on: soccer, scholarship, people and the planet.
Soccer provides an unparalleled opportunity for children to develop critical thinking and strategic skills, physical fitness, teamwork, and self-esteem.
Education, as the great Nelson Mandela said, is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world, so providing an avenue for school via scholarships is critical to empowering youth.
People are the greatest untapped resource we have and investment in them – especially women and girls – will be the key to sustainable, equitable progress in Africa.
Very simply put, Ascent believes humans should give more to the planet than we take from it, so we are committed to teaching climate action and conservation to create a stronger generation of stewards for the earth.
“Adaptavist is in the transformation business – we know what it takes to help companies reach their full potential and we’re thrilled to bring some of that experience to bear for Ascent,” said Harp Athwal, Head of Client Services & North American Operations, Adaptavist. “We look forward to working together to help students throughout Southeast Africa get the education they need to reach their full potential and nurture their ability to transform themselves, their communities and the world.”
Adaptavist will join the Rick Mangat Family Foundation, a 'People' Pillar Partner, as a key supporter.
“We’ve been working with Adaptavist for a few years now and this represents a wonderful next step in our relationship,” said Ascent Soccer co-founder Adrian Bradbury. “Adaptavist’s culture and team ethos is evident in all that they do – and they prize lifelong learning. We’re confident they will be an engaged partner for our scholarship pillar – one that helps us lead and support our students to grow and succeed.”
